Haryana penetrated its first goal in the 7th minute when Navneet Kaur made no mistake while piercing a Field Goal. Navjot Kaur stroked in another field goal in the 18th minute giving the team a 2-0 lead. The end of the first half saw Haryana dominating the game a margin of 6 goals to 0. Taking ahead their goal scoring spree in the second half as well, Haryana added five more goals to their credit. At the 38th minute Navjot Kaur stroked in her third goal and seventh for the team, forcing the opponents to go back on defense. Navneet Kaur scored 2 back to back goals in the 43rd and 44th minute which was through a Penalty Corner and Field Goal respectively. The last goal for the team came from Sonika in the 66th minute, bringing the winning total to 11-0.
In the second match of the day, Sports Authority of India clashed against Mumbai Hockey Association Ltd wherein the former won the battle 6-2. It was Shabnam Lakra’s two goals and Etwari’s one which gave the team a 3 goal lead by the end of first half. While Shabnam scored in the 19th and 29th minute, Etwari scored in the 23rd minute, all coming in as field goals. Mumbai Hockey Association Ltd came back strong in the second half and scored 2 back to back goals in the 36th and 47th minute. It was Mumbai Hockey Association’s Nishi Singh who scored a field goal in the 36th minute and Jahan Aara’s successful Penalty Corner in the 47th minute that helped the team pocketing two goals and tried to pull the game back. Sports Authority of India immediately put the break on the opponents attack and scored 2 back to back goals in the 48th and 49th minute. Both the goals were scored by Priya Rai as Field Goals.
In another match, Punjab beat Kerala 14-1 and went on to register its first win on the opening day. Punjab scored 6 goals in the first half with due efforts of Captain Sukhjit Kaur’s and Anuradha’s two goals each. The team opened their account in the very 8th minute of the match through a Anu Bala’s field goal. The team even scored 3 back to back goals in 3 minutes which came in the 20th, 22nd and 23rd minute. In the second half of the match Kerala tried dreadfully to make a comeback in the game but failed to stop the onslaught of Punjab. Kerala scored their lone goal in the 57th minute through Sooryalakshmi K S’s field goal. Gurjit Kaur of Punjab contributed 3 more goals in the second half and which she pounded in the 46th and 59th minute.
In another Pool B match, Uttar Pradesh triumphed 7-1 over Bihar, where the latter only managed to convert one penalty corner as late as in the 57th minute of the game through Jyoti Pandey. Alternatively, Uttar Pradesh took the command of the match from the 14th minute with the help of Captain Pratibha Chaudhary’s inspiring field goal, followed by another two coming through a much motivated Savita in the 16th and the 23rd minute of the game. Uttar Pradesh led the first half by 4-0 and contributed another three in the second half of the game in the 52nd minute through Vaishali ‘A’ Lal and 55th and 64th minute through Captain Pratibha Chaudhary, which led the team to a winning 7-1.
In another Pool D match, Karnataka defeated Maharashtra 7-2, with Karnataka’s Ranjitha A.K’s hat-trick leading the team to the path of victory. Maharashtra’s attempts only garnered two goals in their favour in the 6th and 60th minute, both coming from Captain Pratibha Sawant as field goals.
