Hockey Gangpur Odisha and Sports Authority of India seal a berth in the finale of the 4th Hockey India Sub Junior Women National Championship 2014 (Division B)


-Hockey Gangpur Odisha beats Hockey Bhopal 5-1 in the 1st semi- final match
-Sports Authority of India beat Punjab 3-0

Haldwani, 24 May 2014: The decider match to seal a spot in the Finale tomorrow during the 4th Hockey India Sub Junior Women National Championship 2014 (Division B), Haldwani was an exciting clash between the four teams playing in the semi finals today. Both the Hockey Gangpur Odisha and Sports Authority of India were able to beat their opponents and will be meeting for the grand finaletomorrow.

In the first semi-final match between Hockey Gangpur Odisha and Hockey Bhopal the former opened the scorecard in the 11th minute Namrata Jasmin Bara scored a brilliant field goal taking the team to the much required lead. Hockey Gangpur Odisha struck again in the 14th minute when Rojita Kujar scored the 2nd goal for the team. Just before going into the break the team yet again scored in the 34thminute through a penalty corner which was beautifully converted by Rinki Kujur taking the lead to 3-0. Going into the break Hockey Gangpur Odisha was leading with 3 goals to 0.

In the second half Hockey Bhopal tried making a comeback in the 47th minute when they finally opened their scorecard and coming from the stick of Priyanka Rathor. Post that Hockey Gangpur Odisha did not allow the opponents to score any further goals and before ending the match they added 2 more field goals in the 59th and 62ndminute which helped them enter the finals tomorrow.

In the second final it was Sports Authority of India which won the match against Punjab with 3-0 on the score board. Sports Authority of India started its goal scoring in the very 3rd minute into the match when Sumita scored a brilliant field goal. Just before the end of the first session, in the 34th minute Rajni gave Sports Authority of India another lead when the team got a penalty corner opportunity. At the end of first half the scoreboard read 2-0. In the second half while Punjab tried making a comeback Sports Authority of India scored their 3rd goal in the 57th minute and this time it was Monika Sihag who did the scoring for the team. With this the team took a convincing win over Punjab and will be meeting Hockey Gangpur Odisha in the finals tomorrow.
