started with a glorious win as they defeated Gujarat 4-0 on Day-1 of
4th Hockey India Sub- Junior Women’s National
Championship 2014 (Division B) played at Haldwani, Uttarakhand.
In
a Pool A match, with a good start in the tournament, Himachal Pradesh
girls over shadowed Gujarat’s game play and did not allow them to
score even a single goal during the entire match. Though, the first
half of the game went completely goalless as both the teams
restricted each other from doing any damage, the second half of the
game witnessed Himachal Pradesh going all out and pierced in four
goals within a span of just 8 minutes.
Opening
the account of the game, Himachal Pradesh’s Madhu converted a
penalty corner in the 38th minute. Soon after
this, another goal came from Madhu , this time a field goal in
40th minute. Continuing to hold an upper edge on the
game, Himachal Pradesh’s Komal Sharma and Nisha stroke two goals in
43rd and 46th minute respectively,
declaring a clear win.
In
another Pool A match, Hockey Bhopal defeated Vidarbha Hockey
Association by 5-2. All five goals which Bhopal bagged came
from the immense contribution of Pooja Khushwah all alone.
In
the first half, two goals in 12th and 14th minute
were stroked by Pooja Khushwah without letting Vidarbha Hockey
Association to score a single goal. Whereas, as the first half of the
match proved to be a disappointment for Vidarbha Hockey Association,
without taking much time in the second half, Ashwani Jadhav scored a
field goal in the 36th minute. But, Hockey Bhopal
kept on the attack and pierced in two consecutive goals in 39th and
45th minute which were again by stroked in Pooja. In
the 47th minute, Vidharbha Hockey Association bounced
back with a field goal by the team’s Captain Isha Vhattad taking
the scores to 2-4. Bhopal scored a winning goal in the 62nd minute
and finished the game at a score of 5-2.
In
Pool B match, Sports Authority of India emerged as the winner of
their first match whereas Hockey Uttarakhand lost to 1-0. Both the
teams gave a tough fight to each other claiming no goal in the first
half. With a completely dry first half, the game turned to be
unpredictable until after a long struggling, just 8 minutes before
the game finished, Monika Sihag from Sports Authority of India scored
a field goal in the 62nd minute, leaving the home turf stunned with
the Sports Authority of India’s win.
