Assam and Jammu & Kashmir played a draw 2-2 in the 4th Hockey India Sub Junior Men National Championship 2014

  • Himachal Pradesh defeats Rajasthan 6-2
  • Bihar beats Vidarbha Hockey Association 4-1
New Delhi, 14th May 2014: Assam and Jammu & Kashmir played a tough game as they drew 2-2 on the Day-5 of the  4th Sub-Junior National Men Championship 2014 (Division B) played today at Vadodara, Gujarat.

In a Pool A match, played between Assam and Jammu & Kashmir a sturdy game-play was witnessed and where two mistakes by Jammu & Kashmir led to a draw. The first half of the game saw Jammu & Kashmir taking the lead and closing the first half with a 1-0 on board with the help of Ramandeep Singh’s field goal in the 18th minute. It was Ramandeep Singh’s contribution again in the 53rd minute which helped the team to further take the score up by 2-0. Assam came back in the game, as late as in the last three minutes of the match, where they changed the fate of the game when they were rewarded with two penalty corners and Captain Minaj Ali and Prashant Kabeer Singh made no mistake in converting them in the 67th and 69th minute of the game, respectively. As the last two penalty corners turned in Assam’s favour, the final result of the match saw a 2-2 draw on board.
 
In another match of Pool A, Himachal Pradesh defeated Rajasthan with an astonishing 6-2 margin. The first two goals of the match came within a span of three minutes where Himachal Prasdesh’s Vachiter Singh opened the account for the team in the 9th minute which was immediately levelled by Rajasthan’s Urmil Kumar Sharma in the 11th minute. Himachal Pradesh pierced in three back to back goals in the 14th, 25th and 26th minute with the help of Sahil Kumar alone, taking the score to 4-1. The last goal of the first half was seen in the 30th minute from Rajasthan’s Vikaram Rathor which helped in reducing the margin to 4-2. Sahil Kumar of Himachal Pradesh proved to be the key to the team’s success as he sliced in two more goals in the second half in the 38th and the 70th minute and routed the team to a huge 6-2 win alone.

In another match of Pool A, Bihar overcame Vidarbha Hockey Association with a 4-1 on board. Bihar dominated the match from the first half of the game itself as they opened their account in the very 3rd minute of the game with the help of Binit Ekka which was backed by Ankit Aryan in the 11th minute as a field goal. Though, Vidarbha Hockey Association’s Captain Shakeen Sheikh tried and reduced the margin by 2-1 in the 26th minute, it was Bihar’s Binit Ekka again who replied in the 28th minute and took the lead to 3-1 and was this time followed by Anothony Mundu in the 31st minute and took the lead further ahead to 4-1 by the end of the first half. The second half of the game saw a dry run as both the teams failed to strike in any goals, hence Bihar claimed a 4-1 victory over Vidarbha Hockey Association.

  • Pool A – Himachal Pradesh 6 Sahil Kumar (9, 14 25, 26, 38 and 70 min) Vs. Rajasthan 2 Urmil Kumar Sharma (11 min) and Vikram Rathor (30 min).
  • Pool A – Bihar 4 Binit Ekka (3 and 28 min), Ankit Aryan (11 min) and Anothony Mundu (31 min) Vs. Vidarbha Hockey Association 1 Captain Shakeen Sheikh (26 min).
