Mysore 16 March 2014: Day-2 of Division A of the 4th Hockey India Junior Women National Championship played at Mysore saw a mix of exciting clashes and great comebacks. In Pool C, Hockey Maharashtra registered its second consecutive win in the championship by defeating Bengal Hockey Association with an astonishing 9-0.
Bengal Hockey Association failed to impress on Day-2 as well. After yesterday's defeat by Jharkhand with 19-0, Hockey Maharashtra blows another dent on Bengal Hockey Association. The match today, witnessed Hockey Maharashtra in an inevitable form as they kept the dominance in the match throughout, for themselves. Captain Aishwarya Chavan of Hockey Maharashtra took it upon herself to motivate the team by stroking the first two goals in the 7th and the 26th minute for the team. The next two goals for the team in the first half came from Alakananda Bagade and Pooja Bhoyar in the 34th and 35th minute taking Hockey Maharashtra's score to a dominating 4-0 till the half time. The game saw another five goals in favour of Hockey Maharashtra in the second half, out of which one goal each again came from Alakananda Bagade in the 37th minute and Pooja Bhoyar in the 64th minute. Repeated efforts from Bengal Hockey Association to stop Hockey Maharashtra, went in vain and lost the game by 9-0.
In another match of Pool C, both Uttar Pradesh Hockey and Hockey Jharkhand put up a stunning show and displayed fantastic skills and technique. The first half of the game saw both the teams playing a defensive game and restricted each other from opening their accounts, hence keeping the score leveled at 0-0 till the half time. The second half of the match took a different route when Uttar Pradesh Hockey's Chand Khan went out in full swing penetrated two goals, one after the other in the 42nd and 59th minute of the game. Hockey Jharkhand's Ranjeeta Minz and Kanti Pradhan returned the favour as they helped in leveling the score at 2-2 in the 62nd and 66th minute of the game, respectively. With a surprising performance from both the teams, the game concluded at 2-2 draw.
In the third match of the day, Sports Authority of India (SAI) trounced Hockey Rajasthan by a classic 10 goals to 0. Manisha who became the highlight of the match by scoring a hat-trick for SAI helped the team to extend lead. From the initial minutes of the game it seemed to be a one sided game as SAI team pounded the goals consistently. SAI team players who were on a control ride against Rajasthan players merely allowed the opponents to enter the Danger zone of SAI.
In another match played between Haryana and Hockey Unit Of Tamil Nadu of Pool A, Haryana left no stones unturned to steal the match away from their opponents and bagged the match with a magnificent 14-0. Haryana conveyed the message from the beginning of the match itself, as they took the lead ahead of Hokey Unit Of Tamil Nadu by 9-0 till the half time. Where Haryana's Reet became the top scorer of the match with four goals in her kitty, Jyoti Gupta and Pooja Rani pocketed 3 goals each.
