Delhi registers second win as they storm past Rajasthan by a clean 13-0

New Delhi, 12th May 2014: On the Day-3 of the 4th Sub-Junior National Hockey Championship 2014 - Men (Division B), played today at Vadodara, Gujarat, Delhi registered its second win in the Championship as they defeated Rajasthan 13-0.
 
In a Pool B match, Delhi started their shower of goals on Rajasthan from the 9th minute of the match itself and continued the battering upon them till the 66th minute of the match as Delhi went on to register its second win with 13-0 this time. It was Delhi’s Kuldeep who opened the account for the team in the 9th minute as well as stroked in the last goal of the match in the 66th minute. Kuldeep went on to become the highest scorer of the match as he contributed a total of six goals for the team, followed by the second highest scorers contributing two goals each were, Arun Kumar in the 34th and the 40th minute and Neeraj Kumar in the 59th and 60th minute. The first half of the match saw Delhi take the lead with 4-0 with Kuldeep’s three goals and one by Arun Kumar. Whereas, the second half of the game witnessed Delhi shattering Rajasthan’s efforts and pounding a total of nine more goals to take the victory margin to 13-0. The match saw Rajasthan fumbling at both attack and defence as they failed to stop Delhi from crushing them with a giant goal difference.
 
In another match of Pool C, after an embarrassing 12-1 defeat by Hockey Gangpur-Odisha, Uttarakhand unleashed their weapons against Goa and captured the match in their favour with an amazing 9-0. Uttarakhand dominated the match from the very 6th minute of the match itself as Lokesh Bora made no mistake in converting a penalty corner and opening the account for the team. It was in the 27th and the 28th minute of the game when  Uttarakhand took the lead further ahead by 3-0 with the help of Vishesh Kumar’s successful penalty corner and Sarik Ali’s field goal respectively, by the end of the first half. The second half of the match saw Uttarakhand going all out and stroking one goal after the other from the 39th minute till the very last minute of the game and restricting Goa from doing any damage to a clean-sweep victory chances. It was Lokesh Bora in the 6th and the 39th minute, Sarik Ali in the 28th and 47th minute and Saurabh Patwal in the 61st and the 70th minute who contributed a total of six goals out of nine goals in total to win the match by 9-0 on board.
In another Pool A match, what seemed to be tough clash between Jammu & Kashmir and Bihar in the first half of the match, the second half turned out to be disastrous for Jammu & Kashmir.

In the first half, the opening goal came from Bihar’s Samir Minz in the 3rd minute through a penalty corner. Hockey Jammu & Kashmir levelled the scores through Manpreet Singh’s field goal in the 14th minute. Soon after this, Bihar retaliated by piercing two consecutive goals in 21st and 27th minute coming from Samir Minz and Subash Sanga respectively. Jammu & Kashmir showed signs of life when Manik Sharma stroked in a field goal in the 30th minute to reduce the margin to 3-2 by the end of the first half of the match. Starting late, from the 54th minute Hockey Bihar changed the course of the match in the second half when they sliced in a total of seven more goals and took the winning score to 10-2. In the 54th minute, Bihar’s Vinay Xess converted a goal through a penalty corner, followed by Subash Sanga scoring his second goal in 56th minute. Another successful hit was stroked in by Jony Kumar in 62nd minute followed by Binit Ekka in 67th minute. Starting right from the 67th minute, with each passing minute, Bihar was moving towards the win as Binit Ekka, Jony Kumar and Anand Kumar Bara pierced a field goal each in 67th, 68th and 69th respectively. To finish the game on the winning note, Jony Kumar scored a goal in 70th minute of the game
